Attorney General Abbott Addresses Round Rock Chamber of Commerce’s Momentum Economic Development Group Quarterly MeetingROUND ROCK – Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott joined Round Rock Mayor Alan McGraw, members of the Round Rock City Council and local business leaders for the quarterly meeting of Round Rock Chamber of Commerce’s Momentum Economic Development Group.
As the keynote speaker at today’s meeting, Attorney General Abbott recognized Momentum Economic Development Group’s impact on the strong Round Rock economy and Momentum’s continued commitment to the city’s economic success. Having grown by more than 220 percent from 1990 to 2010, Round Rock is now a major economic growth center in Central Texas.
“I believe we should look at job creation first as a foundational element of helping families, not government,” Attorney General Abbott told the group. “It’s not about the money it generates for government, but the opportunity it generates for individual citizens.”
Momentum Economic Development Group is the economic development funding arm of the Round Rock Chamber of Commerce. Since 2004, Momentum – a group of private sector investors – has provided funding to support the economic development programs administered by the Round Rock Chamber of Commerce & Economic Development Partnership. More than 90 companies and organizations committed nearly $1 million for three years, funding fiscal year 2009 to fiscal year 2012. Momentum today launched its third initiative, which will fund economic development activities from Oct. 1, 2012 through Sept. 30, 2017.
