Description
The City of Friendswood (the "City") is submitting this notice of temporary suspension of the requirements of the Texas Public Information Act pursuant to Section 552.2325(b) of the Government Code.
The City is currently significantly impacted by a catastrophe that causes the City's inability to comply with the requirements of the Act. Such incapacity is due to the imminent threat of and recovery from Tropical Storm/Hurricane Beryl resulting in (i) the Acting Governor of the State of Texas on July 6, 2024, to issue a proclamation of declaring a state of emergency for Galveston and Harris Counties and (ii) the Mayor Pro Tem of the City on July 7, 2024, to issue a Local State of Disaster.
At this time, the physical offices of the City are closed; regular operations of the City are suspended; and City staff (i) will be working emergency operations only, (ii) is neither available nor required to work remotely, and (iii) will not have access to the information responsive to an application for information electronically.
