Intern Program

The Office of the Attorney General (OAG) provides unpaid internships for motivated undergraduate students and individuals.  Interns  are selected based on factors such as scholastic achievement, grade-point average, demonstrated leadership skills, participation in extracurricular activities, and communication skills.

Internships are unique and tailored to each intern's needs, interests, and schedule.  The agency has three internship terms:  Spring (January through April), Summer (May through August), and Fall (September through December).

To apply for an OAG internship, interested individuals must submit a completed cover letter and résumé via email to:  [email protected].  The cover letter must identify at least two divisions in which the intern would like to be placed and the preferred internship term. Selected interns are chosen on a rolling basis.

Law Clerk Program

The Office of the Attorney General (OAG) of Texas has a robust law clerk program that provides excellent opportunities for law students around the country to gain first-hand experience in the rewarding and diverse legal work of the OAG.  Law clerks are selected through law school fairs (e.g., Sunbelt Diversity Recruitment Program), on-campus interviews (OCI) at Texas law schools, and online applications.  Law clerks work under the direct supervision of Assistant Attorneys General (AAGs) and engage in a variety of activities, including research, legal writing, and shadowing AAGs.  Summer clerkships are generally for six to eight weeks.  Although most clerkships are in Austin, the OAG does offer some clerkships in other Texas cities, including Houston, Dallas, and San Antonio.
