Consumer Privacy Rights

Texas Data Privacy and Security Act

Effective July 1, 2024 the Texas Data Privacy & Security Act grants Texas residents key rights over their personal data. It also establishes privacy protection safeguards which apply generally to companies that “conduct business in Texas or produce a product or service consumed by residents of Texas” and that collect, use, store, sell, share, analyze, or process consumers’ personal data.

Mandatory Data Breach Reporting

Texas law requires the reporting of data breaches to the Office of the Attorney General if 250 or more Texans are affected. Use our online form to report a breach and review a list of data breach reports received since September 1, 2021.
