Question: Can the LCP law enforcement agency checklist be used in place of the incident/offense report? 

Answer: No, this is a guide to make sure the correct information is included in the incident/offense report.

Question: Should the law enforcement agency mail or fax in the incident/offense report?

Answer: No, an incident/offense report will be requested via email and an unredacted report should be emailed back to [email protected] 

Question: What if an apprehension was not made?

Answer: An incident report needs to list the property damage, along with the law enforcement officers investigative findings. 

Question: What information needs to be included in the law enforcement report?

Answer: In accordance with Texas Code of Criminal Procedure, Chapter 56C the following need to be included in the law enforcement report.

  1. If the incident is connected to a transnational border crime;
  2. What type of border crime the incident is connected to; and
  3. The property damage that occurred. 

Question: If the damaged property serves as a boundary line between two adjacent property owners, should this be noted in the law enforcement report?

Answer: Yes, it would be helpful if it’s notated on the report.
