Compensation may be available for crime-related travel costs for victims and claimants.
Once your application is approved, we will work with you to determine what travel costs are eligible for compensation.
What Travel Costs Are Covered?
Reimbursement for crime-related travel costs such as:
- Travel over 20 miles one-way to medical and mental health care appointments, criminal justice proceedings, or a victim’s funeral
- Food/lodging for travel over 60 miles (one-way)
Who May Receive Compensation?
Victims or claimants with eligible crime-related travel costs may be eligible for compensation.
Compensation Limits
Reimbursement rates are set by the Texas Comptroller's office.
Note: CVC will not reimburse a victim or a claimant who has been subpoenaed. If subpoenaed, you should seek reimbursement from the prosecutor’s office.
CVC is the last source of payment by law. All other readily available resources must pay before any payment by the program.
